Sprint Matching Gift Week! by Nana Duffuor

Dear Sprint Family,

I want to thank you for the overwhelming support we’ve received for our Sprint fundraising campaign thus far. We are exactly halfway towards our goal of raising $5,000 by Monday, December 25th!!! Now that we've secured our film team, we've called in the big guns to help us reach our goal. Take a look:

Christmas has come early, and we have some exciting news to share:

To help us reach our goal, my beloved friends, Sprint supporters, and all-around bad ass Oakland community-members, Jocelyn Wong and Anna Salem, have generously offered to match all donations made to the Sprint GoFundme Campaign this week dollar-for-dollar up to $1,250!!!! That’s right! All week long until 10:00pm on December 25th, you can double your donation by taking advantage of this match. You give $10, the Sprint campaign receives $20. You give $100, the Sprint campaign receives $200! All the way up until we reach our goal of $5,000!

Those of you that have donated to help get us to $2,500--THANK YOU!!!! We so deeply appreciate your investment. As a token of appreciation, we've got even more Sprint good good coming your way. For now, please share our video and this matching gift opportunity widely.

With much love and appreciation,

Nana & the Sprint Film Team (Angelia Baxter, Junho Kim, Indigo Mateo, Nuri Mohamed, & Greg Tyesi)

What Would You Do For the Flick? by Nana Duffuor

Dear Sprint Fam,

We are so excited to invite you to support our "Sprint to the Stage" Fundraising Campaign! Indigo and I have set an ambitious fundraising goal of $5,000 to cover the cost of producing a series of short films to accompany our live performance at the Summer 2018 National Queer Arts Festival. As you can see in the video above, we need your support!

The short films will depict different periods of Nana's life and will showcase the talents of no less than five women of color directors and editors. Your donation will help to cover the cost of compensation for these incredible artists and production of the films.

As we see it, this represents a critical step in our journey towards: 1) Delivering an unforgettable performance at the National Queer Arts Festival, 2) Growing the work into a fully-developed feature-length film, and 3) Sparking national conversation on the story's themes of anti-blackness and self-denial, sexual violence and self-destruction, healing and resistance.

Thank you for embarking on this journey with us. We couldn't do it with your support.

With love and gratitude,

The Sprint Team

PS: We'll be in touch throughout the campaign with more exciting Sprint tid bits, including some newly produced tracks ;-)

Awww Sookie Sookie Now! by Nana Duffuor

Sprint Fam,

This past summer I had the honor of sharing parts of my story and creative project Sprint with you. Thank you so much for being a part of what was an unforgettable evening for me. Afterwards, many of you asked, "what's next?" I've been waiting until it's confirmed to share some exciting news with you.....

Sprint was recently accepted into the Queer Cultural Center's "Creating Queer Community" Grants Program and will debut at the National Queer Arts Festival in June 2018!!!!!!!

(Hot damn! That's a mouthful!)

Between now and June, Indigo and I will have the chance to work with talented creatives in our community to put together a stage production blending film, theater, poetry, music, and dance to tell my coming of age story as a queer black child of Ghanaian immigrants coming up in the U.S.  Think: what you saw in July on steroids. Think: My first act of resistance vs. my nemesis, Mr. Hahn, brought to the stage. Think: A theater full of people singing along to "Golden," "Alex Mack," "Surf and Turf." Are you with me?!

Our first order of business will be to recruit a talented, committed team of emerging filmmakers to produce six short film vignettes for the show. Please help share our "Call for Filmmakers."

As more unfolds, I'll use this site and my Instagram account (@sprintmovement) to keep you abreast of all things Sprint, including calls for filmmakers, thespians, and theater nerds; ways to support the making of the stage production; and where to cop original Sprint music. ("Alex Mack" is set to drop in time for the holiday season, y'all).

In the meantime, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for joining Indigo and I on this journey! It's about to be one hell of a ride :-)

With love and gratitude,

Nana
